I had a great experience here! Waiter, Satyanarayana Raju, was very friendly, attentive, and gave excellent recommendations. He suggested the Karvepaku Vepudu appetizer and the Juicy Chicken Mandi, and both were absolutely delicious. His recommendations were spot on, and his service made the whole dining experience even better. Highly recommend this place, and if you get a chance, ask for Raju!

I recently had an excellent dining experience here! The food was incredibly authentic South Indian—the spice levels were perfect and tailored exactly to our preferences. I also want to specifically commend Raju garu for his outstanding service; he made our visit truly enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, delicious South Indian cuisine!. Our favorite dishes are Biryani ( gongura ) and karivepaku bobi .

Phenomenal Food and Great Experience! We had a wonderful dining experience here. The standout was absolutely the food—every single dish we ordered was prepared to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care put into the cooking. Raju the attendant was also attentive and welcoming, making the overall meal even better. If you are looking for a spot with top-tier food that hits the mark, this is definitely it. I highly recommend it and will absolutely be coming back!

My husband and I had dinner here. If ur looking for authentic south Indian cuisine, one good place i would recommend. Food is fresh, delicious and spicy. We ordered Chicken 65, Chapati 2 Qty, Chicken Chetinadu, Chicken Dum Biryani. It was alot for 2 people. Service is quick. Good food overall.

I recently visited Southern Spice on Newark Avenue and had a pleasant overall dining experience. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a clean, well-maintained space that reflects its authentic South Indian roots. The staff were courteous, attentive, and ensured that we were comfortable throughout our visit, which added a professional and welcoming touch to the experience. The menu features a wide variety of traditional dishes, and you can tell there is a genuine effort to preserve authentic flavors. While most aspects of the experience were enjoyable, the biryani, in my personal opinion, did not stand out as much as I had hoped. The preparation and presentation were good, but the depth of flavor and balance of spices were slightly milder than my expectation. That said, the overall quality, service, and ambiance make Southern Spice a worthwhile place to visit, especially for those looking to explore authentic South Indian cuisine in the Newark Ave area. I appreciate the consistency and hospitality, and I would certainly be open to returning to explore more of their menu.
